Description A POLYCHROME DECORATED CIZHOU 'FISH' CERAMIC BOWL, JIN DYNASTYChina, Jin Dynasty (1115-1234). Of conical form resting on a stoutly potted ring foot, covered inside and out with a crackled chalk white slip, vividly painted in bright iron-red and green with five fish amid aquatic plants. The exterior plain and with two lines, the white slip ending above the foot, revealing the tan-brown ware.Condition: Good condition, some old wear, and manufacturing flaws including fritting, glaze recesses, firing cracks, minor nicks to the foot.Provenance: From the collection of Teddy Hahn, Darmstadt, and thence by descent to the present owner.
