Description AN AGATE `GROURD AND FLOWERS` PENDANT, 1920sChina, Republic period (1912-1949). Carved and pierced to depict a double gourd (hulu) and a leafy spray with a flower. The translucent stone of an amber color with creamy white shadings and showing a fine polish. The hulu is an ancient symbol for health in China and is said to contain the elixir of life. With a metal fitting and glass bead for suspension.Condition: Good condition with minor wear, minuscule nibbling, and few natural flaws to the stone.
