说明：旃檀佛像是佛教历史上出现的第一尊佛像。据《阿含经》记载，公元前六世纪时，释迦牟尼佛为超度生母摩耶夫人，将去三十三天为母亲说法，当时人间有一位虔诚的优填王，恐怕佛陀走后心生对佛陀的渴仰，就请佛陀站在水边，命国中优秀工匠照着佛陀映在水中的倒影，用牛头旃檀木雕造了一尊佛陀的立像。因其用旃檀木雕刻而成，所以称“旃檀佛像”或“旃檀瑞像”；又因是古印度优填王发起并命工匠雕造，又称“优填王造像”。
