Belonging to the Five Pehar Gyalpo Kunga (Kings) of the Terma (Treasure) Nyingma lineage of the Tibetan Buddhism, Pehar is its principal deity representing the personified forms of body, speech, mind, quality, and activity. Compare with two closely related figures of Damchen Garwai Nakpo (HAR 12102 & 20831) and a six-armed image of Pehar riding a lion sold at Christie's, New York, 16 September 2008, lot 258.Provenance:Private New England Collection, acquired in 1970s
