Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: Born in Dordrecht, Cuyp was an enormously influential landscape painter. His work was greatly admired in Britain from the 18th century onwards, and had an impact on artists including Richard Wilson (1714-1782), Thomas Gainsborough (1727-1788), John Constable (1776-1837) and J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851).
