A RUTH BADER GINSBURG CAKE TOPPER BY SYLVIA WEINSTOCK.Figural cake topper of a battle, wood, paint, and fondant, 200 x 305 x 100 mm, with a figure of Justice Ginsburg at the bow, mounted on hexagonal mirror with affixed painting list, 400 x 400 mm. This cake topper is one of threemissioned by Charles and Jane Ervin, close friends of Justice Ginsburg's who were active in musical circles and who often celebrated her birthday with her. The Ervins ordered this cake from the prestigious New York cake designer Sylvia Weinstock sometime around 2012. The present example features the figure of Justice Ginsburg in judicial robes on the bow of the , arms stretched out a la Leonardo DiCaprio ("I'm the king of the world!") in the film Titanic . But the boat Justice Ginsburg helms is not the Titanic ; it is a battle (with three cannons) christened The Notorious RBG and flying the American flag as well as the flag of the United States Supreme Court. The battle sits atop a mirror (to mimic calm seas) adorned with a listing of 9 of Ginsburg's most famous cases listed by case number only, from United States vs. Virginia "518 US 515 (1996)" to the Affordable Care Act "132 US Ct. 2566, 2609 (2012)." The cases in which she was in the majority are written in black ink; the dissenting cases are in bright red. Another of the Sylvia Weinstock cake toppers created for the Ginsburgs featured the Justice in her robes and Marty in an apron and chef's hat. It can be seen at the far right corner of her desk in photographs of the Justice in her chambers. None
