Set of Two Brass Temple Oil LampsJapan, 19th/20th century, with two covered cylindrical boxes and two tongs, ht. to 29 1/4, wd. to 10 3/8 in. Provenance: From the David Drabkin Collection, many of which were loaned to the Yale University Art Gallery for exhibition/research. Mr. Drabkin formed his art collection while residing in many parts of Asia, including Japan, China, and Thailand. His keen interest in Asian art led him to build a close relation with many fellow art collectors, gallery owners, art historians, and art dealers, such as J.J. Lally.
