Ca. 100-300 AD An ancient flask blown from two parts of olive green clear glass with a Janus head of a youth. The young boy with chubby cheeks, round chin and broad nose, as well as thick curls framing his face. The neck is long and cylindrical, the spout horizontally pulled outwards and thickened. The base is flat. With beautifully shimmering iridescence. Janus was one of the oldest and most important divinities. He was the god of beginnings, and usually depicted with two faces, in order to look towards both the future and the past. For a comparable type see: Stern, E. M., Toledo Museum of Art, 1995, No. 149.
