玉质青黄，有红沁，片状雕刻。虎呈行走状，尾上卷。勾云形方耳，又俗称“蘑菇耳”，嘴、眼、尾部位各穿一孔。该玉虎形制、工艺具有早期风格，属于这一时期的佩饰，各大博物馆可见同类器物，有圆雕、片状雕刻之分。 虎号称百兽之君，早在新石器时代即开始被人神化。我们的祖先曾以虎的威猛作为沟通天地神祇、驱邪崇镇之物。在中国古代玉器史上，以虎为母题的玉器占有一定数量，其宗教含义远重于装饰作用，是原始先民信仰的物化形式。 这件玉虎尺寸较大，且沁色自然，虽光素无纹，但打磨十分精细。整体写意，仅以数刀即裁切出虎的形态，造型准确形象，体现了早期玉匠对动物形体的完美把控。
