A Meissen Porcelain Reticulated Vase, circa 1755, allegorical of fire, modelled by Johann Joachim Kaendler, of scroll moulded and pierced baluster form issuing flames, with three leaf-scroll handles, applied with a dragon and snake on a circular base applied with the infant Vulcan35cm highKaendler's work reports for October, November and December 1747 record the making of a set of vases as the elements Water and Fire in October, Air in November, Earth in December. The following year a similar set were described with a note to say that they were an order for Graf von Brühl. These examples were of a monumental size, the set ranging from 58.4cm to 67.3cm. Some wear throughout.
