壁瓶方口，沿带凹槽，直颈微束，鼓肩，腹壁斜下收，平底带小足。肩部出兽首衔环，造型来源于中式壁瓶却用西方的铜鎏金雕花嵌宝石装饰。此璧瓶以中式壁瓶为型，造型别致精巧，可谓匠心独运。壁瓶为中国诸多瓶式的一种，以挂于壁面而名，又称“轿瓶”、挂瓶。器型为常见花瓶、尊等竖部的一半，靠壁一面平坦有孔，以利于悬挂于墙壁上。壁瓶须插花，万历十九年的《遵生八笺》一书记载“四时插花，人作花伴，清芬满床，卧之神爽意快，冬夏两可”。清代文人对壁瓶插花赞美更甚：“蘅皋掇青藻，毡室伴清嘉”；“宿再朝烟与润，山花野卉常新”。 此壁瓶构思精巧，工料皆精，应是西方为取悦中国帝王而特质的品种，挂于墙上，故宫博物院中亦藏有类似壁瓶，可资比对。
