水丞别称水中丞、水盂，是文房中蓄水以供研墨的用具，一般小口鼓腹，精致玲珑，配合小勺舀水注砚。此件为瓷质海螺，此件粉彩瓷质海螺仿造真实海螺而制，水丞整体造型模仿海螺，内外遍施窑变红釉，造型小巧可人，形态毕肖生动，逗人喜爱，实属难得的清雅文房佳器。形制大小、贝壳色泽、质感酷似真品。象生瓷始于乾隆时期，它是仿照各种动物、植物、鲜果品等形象烧制而成，形象逼真，构思巧妙。此件即为此类作品之一。
