此件瓷山子以瓷泥为胎，属像生瓷，仿洞庭石摆件之造型，通身施松石绿地，做文房陈设用，洞庭石采石历史悠久，《尚书•禹贡》中即有取石以制磬的记录。以为石为清赏，起于唐，盛于宋，以其品贵，视若拱璧，徇为历代文人雅士所致力购求，明人文震亨《长物志》〈品石〉中云：「（洞庭石）石大者尤不易得，高踰数尺者便属奇品，小者可置几案间。色如漆，声如玉者最佳。」由于上品售价昂贵，所以出现了大量的替代品，此物灵飞若动，曲折盘绕，如伏若踞。石面沟壑纵横，遍布皴皱，中有透空接连的巉岩孔洞，曲折幽微，引人入胜，天然成趣。叩击则有清脆悦耳，玉振金声。制作者做工极为灵巧，集顽、拙、丑、怪、灵、巧、秀、奇之美，兼而有之。实为佳品。
