A RARE BROWN-GLAZED CIZHOU FIGURE OF SEATED GENERAL, PROBABLY GUAN YU, WITH UNGLAZED COLD PAINTED HEAD China, Ming dynasty H. 34,8 cm North German private collection, assembled before 2000 Compare with a Cizhou figure of Zhenwu sold at Christie's New York, 1.9.2003, lot 289. A similar figure to the one sold in New York was unearthed in Miyun Country, Beijing which is now in the Beijing Cultural Relics Research Institute (see Urban Life in the Song, Yuan & Ming, Singapore, 1994, p. 70).
