Only the upper halves of their bodies are visible, bursting dramatically into the frame, giving a sense of impetus and power. The taller man reaches his arm around to grasp his rival’s mawashi and lift him, ready for a throw, the latter twisting one arm back and around the neck of his opponent. Their facial and body hair is neatly and subtly incised.
