A FINE BLACK AND GOLD LACQUERED SUZURIBAKO WITH CHERRY BLOSSOMS AND MOONJapan, 19th centuryOf rounded rectangular form, the exterior bearing a roiro ground, the top and sides of the overhanging cover finely decorated in gold takamaki-e and gold and silver hiramaki-e as well as kirigane and e-nashiji to depict an old blossoming cherry blossom tree with prominent recessed burls, with the full silver moon in the background.
