A very elaborate bright red Japanese wedding Kimono, Furisode, circa 1920, late Taisho period (1912-26), this robe was the very outer Kimono worn by the bride during the long wedding ceremonies, the padded hemline and long length created a resplendent vision and with large white embroidered cranes and floral Mons tied with silver tasselled thread chords decorate the robe. ?Provenance: Formerly in a private American collection formed in the 1980's and 1990's?These robes were very costly to make and were part of the dowry of the bride given by her family.???
