Old and fantastic iron eight-plate Saika-style zaboshi’kabuto 座星兜 (seated rivet helmet) with small fukikaeshi å¹è¿”ã— (face guard) and two neck guards 錣 (shikoro) laced with dark blue silk cords 濃紺絲 (nôkon’ito). The overlapping plates are fastened by seated rivets 座星 (zaboshi), which gives them the lovely shape of chrysanthemums èŠ (kiku). On four sides a bullet-shaped rivet. The front with a nice arrow-shaped maedate å‰ç«‹ã¦ (decoration piece). The wooden maedate is covered with shiny gold leaf. The helmet is in a very good original condition with some very minor traces of age and wear, and with a beautiful patina. Please look at the photos for a condition reference. A considerable feat seeing the helmet dates already from the end of the Muromachi period / early Momoyama period. This is around the second half of the 16th (!) century, which is around 450 years old.Approx. sizes with hanging neck guards: Height 21 cm, Width 28 cm, Depth 29 cm. Size maedate: Height 10.5 cm, Width 6.5 cm, Depth 2 cm. Late Muromachi-period / Early Momoyama-period.
