Spanish school of the first half of the sixteenth century. "The Virgin crowned with the child Jesus". Oil on panel. Significant losses in the polychrome and on the board. Oxidized varnish and restorations. Old frame with slight losses. Measurements: 87.5 x 71 cm; 66 x 50 cm (frame). On an undetermined background stands out the image of Mary and the Child. The Virgin is wearing a large crown decorated with cabochons of rhinestones. The subtlety and distinction of the work is emphasized by the embroidered work of her mantle, gilded on a blue background. In her right hand she holds a scepter, while with her left she embraces the Child. Jesus, on the other hand, has been represented following the same pattern as his mother, in a frontal and hieratic attitude, with his right hand with a blessing gesture, continuing the same fine and defined features as the rest of the composition. In his left hand he holds the Gospels, and is crowned by a striped nimbus, symbolizing the divine light. Dimensions 87.5 x 71 cm; 66 x 50 cm (frame).
