A Chinese cloisonne censer dating from the early Ming dynasty. The censer depicts lotus tracery against a blue ground and has 2 vertical handles. Dimensions are: 3 1/2 inches tall X 5 1/2 inches wide, 8.89 cm X 13.97 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Age appropriate wear with areas of loss and damage to the interior. Provenance: From a private estate in New Hampshire. Similar examples are housed in the Freer Gallery of Art in the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art under accession number F1961.12a-b, as well as in the National Palace Museum in Beijing under accession numbers 00118870 (fig. 1) and 00116133 (fig. 2). Similar examples have previously sold at Sotheby's London on May 15, 2019, as lot 119 and recently at Bonhams London on May 13, 2021, as lot 6.
