A Chinese celadon jade gu vase dating from the 18th century. The gu vase is carved with a dragon and an attendant, and the vase features banana leaf bands and taotie masks on the body. Dimensions are: 7 inches tall X 3 1/4 inches wide, 17.78 cm X 8.26 cm. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Several small areas of breakage. Provenance: Previously sold at Christie's New York on Feb 23-24, 1982. A similar example is currently housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City under accession number 02.18.439 (fig. 1).
