The child of French parents studied in Paris and was a pupil of was a pupil of Henri Royer and Marcel Baschet at the Académie Julian, and of William Bouguereau and Luc-Olivier Merson at the École des Beaux-Arts. His artistic work, which borrowed from caricature and satire, was particularly influenced by George Grosz and Jules Pascin. He also appeared as an illustrator of books. His caricaturistic and socially critical observation extended from London to New York to Paris and Moscow, all of which were published under the title ""Rue et Visages"". and for whose publication important authors such as Pierre Mac Orlan, Jean Giradoux and Paul Morand wrote the texts. The atmospherically coloured panels show, among other things, the people of Wall Street, the Jewish and Italian quarters, Coney Island, circus, bar and boxing events, and revelry on Broadway. - Loose in original blue card portfolio backed in white vellum with paper title label to upper and original ties (spine slightly rubbed). - Uncut.
