ALDO BENADEI 1906-1974 BRAZILIAN ABSTRACT ON CANVAS. Signed and dated as 1956. Image size 20in by 16in. With frame size 27in by 23in. Though Brazilian, Bonadei received most of his artistic training in Florence. Here he attended the studios of Italian painters Antonio Rocco and Pedro Alexandrino and he met painters Ennio Pozzi and Felice Carena, closely linked to the Novecento movement, which consisted of a very eclectic style of painting. During his time in Italy, he came in contact with Italian Futurism and the Expressionism of the School of Rome, all which influenced the artist. In the 1930s, Bonadei returned to Brazil where he joined the grupo santa Helena and became interested in experimental modern art. In the late 1940s he joined the Avant Garde Theater Group in Sao Paulo and worked for many years as a costume designer, while continuing to paint.
