Later 3rd millennium BC. A bronze bifacial stamp seal, rectangular in plan and lentoid in section; accompanied by a typed and signed scholarly note issued by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Bifacial Stamp Seal of Bronze 33 x 27 x 11 mm. The two faces have straight, cut-off ends, and sides that rise in the middle over the hole, resulting in oval ends with hole in the middle. The one face shows a monster with two snake-heads with open jaws. The other side shows a creautre [sic] like a winged lion, also with wide-open jaws. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is a rare piece and in very good condition. The metal has been conserved'; accompanied by a museum-quality impression. 51 grams, 33mm (1 1/4"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; collection number T-413; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; and accompanied by an original typed and signed scholarly note by the Professor.
