4th-3rd millennium BC. A drum-shaped jasper cylinder seal with female figures, accompanied by a museum-quality impression and a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note issued by W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Cylinder Seal of Black Stone 14 x 14 mm. The design shows three seated women with pigtails on mates extending their arms. In front of two of these women are two jars with handles, tête bêche. This is a Jemdet Nasr style seal, c. 3000 B.C. from Mesopotamia or Syria. Though a little worn, the design is so deeply cut that it stands out very clearly. It is thought that the women are working in a prehistoric factory at some process, either potting or doing something with the pots.' 4.8 grams,14mm (1/2"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number 64-B (138); academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; accompanied by a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert.
