18th century BC. A green jasper cylinder seal with courtly presentation scene, accompanied by a museum-quality impression and typed and signed scholarly note issued by W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which states: 'Cylinder Seal of Green Stone 20 x 12 mm. A presentation scene is shown. On the right a god sits on a padded stool. He is clad in a long flounced robe, wears a hat with brim and is holding up a small cup in one hand. Before and facing him stands another god is [sic] horned tiara and long flounced robe, holding up one hand. Behind him and facing the same direction are two standing humans with bare heads and wearing long fringed robes, each raising one hand. A combined crescent and solar disc appear in the sky, and a kind of vessel is a filler. A terminal is composed of three standing creatures one above the other: two sheep and an animal with a long neck. This is a seal from the Assyrian merchant colonies in Anatolia, c.1800-1700 B.C. It is a full design and in good condition.' 5.07 grams, 19mm (3/4"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; item number R-735; academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s; accompanied by a copy of a typed and signed scholarly note by Professor Wilfrid George Lambert.
