大黑天原为古印度战神，在藏传佛教中为观世音菩萨的忿怒化现，既是护法神，又是密宗修法所依止的重要本尊，各个教派中均有供奉，尤为受到格鲁派推崇。他具有四种保护众生的功德：能在战争中保护那些祈求的众生；能保护众生食物丰足；能赐予贫困者福德；能守护亡者坟墓。画面中六臂大黑天左展姿站立，头戴五骷髅冠，顶竖怒发，佩蛇圈穿梭其躯，面相凶忿。上身饰璎珞，下身围兽皮，脖子上挂人头串。六手各执法器，脚踩象头天神，下承莲花座。整幅唐卡布局规整，色彩艳丽，人物勾勒精细生动，威严庄重。
