此种荸荠扁瓶在清宫档案中又称“太极纸槌瓶”，据《清宫瓷器档案全集》记载：“厂官釉太极纸槌瓶为光绪每年必烧大运品种，十六年又为万寿赏赐烧造50件”。拍品色泽较常见青色茶叶末略有不同，更呈“鳝鱼黄”之姿，肃穆含蓄，于沉静之中暗含变化之美，深受宫廷及文人喜爱。
