IMPRESSIVE GOTHIC STYLE CARVED TRIPTYCH, Francisco Pallás y Puig, Valencia, late 19th century. Comprising a large and impressive Pseudo-Late Gothic parcel gilt and painted bone, ebony and inlaid wood triptych depicting the Life of the Virgin Mary. The upper margins with relief carved Renaissance-style busts set in quatrefoils and in each corner a Heraldic shield. Extending across the base of all three panels an inlaid Latin inscription: SIT NOMEN VIRG. MARIAE BENEDICTUM IN SAECULA (Blessed be the Name of the Virgin Mary Forever). The oak case is set with hand wrought figural hardware. Minor restorations and traces of age. Provenance: Euro-American Collection, acquired in the USA, before in a US private collection since c. 1920ies. CITES avaliable. Francisco Pallás y Puig (Valencia 1859-1926) was a student of the Academia de San Carlos. Initially, he worked in various locations in Spain, primarily in wood and specialized in bone and ivory imitations of any style. He exhibited at various international exhibitions, e.g. in Paris and New York. Works of Pallér y Puig are to be found in the Walters Art Gallery/Baltimore, a very similar triptych in the Musée du Palais Bénédictine/Fécamp, Normandy, in the Louvre and in the Museo Arocena in Torréon/Mexico (Ref. 15. Zentrale Darstellung der Madonna mit Kind, flankiert von Engeln. Darunter und auf den Flügeln Darstellungen aus der Mariengeschichte. Die Szenen sind gerahmt und bekrönt von gotisierenden Architekturelementen, Blattwerk und Tierdarstellungen, im zentralen Rahmen stehen die vier Evangelisten auf reich verzierten Ziersäulen. In den oberen Feldern der Flügel Wappendarstellungen. Der untere Rand in Latein beschriftet: SIT NOMEN VIRG. MARIAE BENEDICTUM IN SAECULA (Heilige Jungfrau Maria, geheilig sei dein Name in Ewigkeit). Vormals in einer amerikanischen Sammlung seit ca. den 1920er Jahren. Francisco Pallás y Puig (1859-1926) studierte an der Academia de San Carlos in Valencia. Er arbeitete vornehmlich in Holz, Elfenbein und Bein und schuf Werke verschiedenster Stilrichtungen. Er stellte in verschiedenen, internationalen Salons und Messen aus, so im Jahr 1900 in Paris und in New York. Seine unverkennbaren, reich und detailliert gestalteten Triptychen im gotischen Stil sowie weitere Werke aus seiner Werkstatt finden sich weltweit in renomierten Museen: Louvre/Paris (inv.
