TWO BLUE AND WHITE TILES, PERSIA, 19TH CENTURY underglaze painted fritware, each of convex square form with central iron fixing, the design comprising scrolling arabesques, framed 22 x 44cm (together) The shape and the iron fixings suggest that these tiles may been part of a border around the base of a dome. Similar iron fixings can be seen in Multan on the tiles, added in the 18th century, around the dome of the Tomb of Shams al-Din Sabzwari.
