Ca. 206 BC - 220 AD. Han dynasty. A terracotta head of an attendant with thin arching brows, a delicate nose, small pursed lips and an elaborate woven hairstyle. The Han dynasty is famous for its highly organized ceramic production. Figures of this type were popular during the Han Dynasty and were used to advertise the status of the owner by depicting aspects of elite Chinese political and social life including warriors, servants and ladies of high status.
