ATTRIBUTED TO JEAN-FRANCOIS MILLET (FRENCH 1814-1875) Woman Sewing by Candlelight , pencil heightened with whtite on paper full sheet measuring 34.4 x 27 cm (13 1/2 x 10 5/8 in.) initialed lower right and initialed with figure studies on verso PROVENANCE Private collection, New York CONDITION Observed outside of the mat, the paper is in overall good condition. The sheet is hinged at each corner. The verso is protected by a non-abrasive film and fibrous paper. Even toning throughout. Some scattered tears at the perimeter, most notably to the central left edge (4 cm long). Crease emerging from the upper third of the right margin, across the lower half of the woman’s face, 16 cm long. N.B. All lots are sold in as-is condition at the time of sale.
