Raoul Larche (1860-1912), an Art Nouveau gilt-bronze figural table lamp of Loie Fuller c.1900, signed Raoul Larche, L243, Siot Decauville Fondeur Paris Modelled and cast as the celebrated dancer, her swirling skirts billowing above her and concealing the light bulb, electrical elements 32 cm high Provenance: Purchased Macklowe Gallery, New York, August 14th 1998 Note: Loie Fuller (1862-1928) was an American actress who moved to Europe in 1892 and made her home in Paris. Her 'Serpentine Dance' was created using her long voluminous silk skirts and coloured stage lighting and she choreographed her movements to great effect. Her Art, the dance, was almost a physical embodiment to the Art Nouveau Movement with its emphasis on sinuous and organic forms. Indentation and abrasion on her forearm. A few old marks and light natural wear. Some scratches on the inside where the fitments and light bulb fits in. Felt/card covering bottom. Electrical components have not been tested, and should be examined by a qualified electrician prior to any intended use. Re-wiring may/will be needed
