Nice original Vega plectrum banjo with Vega pie back resonator. Serial no. on dowel and rim 63790 dates the banjo to 1925. 11 1/2 inches dia. thick rim, 1 1/4 inches nut and a Grover tailpiece. Comes in a worn hard shell case with extra strings, four original Grover tuning pegs, flange tool, etc. Dimensions: overall 38 inches long X 14 7/16 inches wide; 96.5 cm long X 36.7 cm wide, fret board 20 3/4 inches long; 52.7 cm long. All measurements are approximate. Condition: Inlays on head and fret board are complete and tight as is the binding on neck and resonator. Shows some wear from use and age. Tuning pegs replaced but comes with the originals. Hard shell case worn and taped. Heel has an old repaired crack. Provenance: Purchased new by the consignors Grandfather, George Victor Sammet Jr (who was also involved with the Northern Industrial Chemical Co. of Boston) and retained by the family until now.
