Finely potted in shallow vessel form, with broad wide central interior, rounded cavetto gently tapering to open wide geometric pattern to cresting wavy Lishui water flori form. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt-blue fine color. The central medallion delicately fine depicted magpie on the tree amidst the abundant lychee tree ripe with fresh foliage, enclosed with triple fine blue rings lines. In the Ming and Qing dynasties the seniority officials could be judged by the number of peacock feathers he wore in his hat. So peacocks in decoration can represent the wish to become an official. The Lychee or Lychee is best known for its white juicy fruit from late summer; the flesh of the fruit surrounds a large, gnarled kernel. The latter wish gives it a role in the marriage celebration. If lychees are combined with water chestnuts they symbolize cleverness: Lingli. The fruits are considered yang in traditional medicine and so are eaten to offset an excess of yin. Each geometric pattern decorated with abundant pomegranate ripe fruits blooms and fresh foliage surrounded the outer central medallion. The pomegranate fruit is brim full of seeds, and as seed in Chinese zi also means children, it chiefly symbolizes a wish for many children. It is an appropriate as a marriage gift with the inscription LiuKaiBaiZi the pomegranate brings forth a hundred seeds/sons. In symbolism a pomegranate may also represent a wish for a title to be continued into the next generation as Shi means ‘generation; noble’. The thrashing wavy Lishui water rim shape outer rim, decorated with scrolling tendril, interlocking flowers blooms, enclosed with cobalt blue single lines swerving contortion follow the wavy Lishui water rim. The Li-Shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The porcelain conformed all required specimen to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, the drawing, and the shape. Without overlap the outlines of the design, well drew, clear, subtle, and distinct. The glaze is seamless and gives off a beautiful luster, with the colors maintaining excellent vibrancy.
