Taping on over the stretcher and the reverse of the frame has not been disturbed. Older taping can be seen beneath current layer. The wooden stretcher looks to be the original. The canvas may or may not be relined as unexamined out of the glazed frame. The reverse of the canvas with some dark spotting and somewhat browned in colour overall. Some fine vertical craquelure here and there to the paint surface, mainly in the sky. Gentle bar marks top section left to right and slight ruckle marks to the canvas in the sky. Canvas appears to be quite close to the inside surface of the glazing. Under inspection with UV lamp there does not appear to be any recent overpainting or restoration. The painting may have been cleaned at some point in time; there does not appear to be any remaining older layers of varnish on the paint surface. Overall in very good condition. River landscape with arched bridge: Held in a glazed bronzed composition moulding frame with planished finish, early 20th century. Taping over the reverse of the picture has been torn and is hanging loose. The wooden stretcher cannot be seen to determine age. The canvas may or may not be relined as unexamined out of the glazed frame. Some raised crazing in the sky. Canvas appears to be quite close to the inside surface of the glazing. Under inspection with UV lamp there does not appear to be any recent over painting or restoration The painting may have been cleaned at some point in time; there does not appear to be any remaining older layers of varnish on the paint surface. Overall in very good condition.
