Caravan and Lovers signed 'Jeffery Camp' (lower left) oil on board 30 x 44cm Footnote: Provenance With Beaux Arts Gallery, London, 1959 University College London Picture Club, where acquired in February 1961 Elected a member of the London Group in 1961 and Royal Academician in 1984, Suffolk born artist, Jeffery Camp, received his early training at the Lowestoft and Ipswich Schools of Art between 1939 and 1940, and later at the Edinburgh College of Art, under Sir William Gillies, from 1941 until 1944. In addition to publishing two instructional books, Draw (1981), and Paint (1996), Camp also worked as a lecturer at the Slade School of Art, and at the Chelsea School of Art. His vivid, painterly works, which mainly depict London parks and the vertiginous, wind sculpted cliffs of England's South Coast, are distinctive for his idiosyncratic disregard for scale and perspective. Condition report: Oil on hardboard. The paint layers are in a good condition overall. There are some scuffs to the wooden surface of the frame and a general layer of dirt.
