A Shibayama inlaid wood cabinet, Meiji era, late 19th/early 20th century, Decorated overall with painted and carved foliate scrolls, the cabinet comprising an asymmetrical arrangement of open shelves and cupboards, a central recessed panel featuring a female figure on a throne accompanied by two boys greeting a pair of cranes, above a central pair of doors showing two different arrangements of flowers, the remaining sliding and hinged doors, panels, and drawers decorated with birds, a variety of seasonal flowers, artistic tools and musical instruments, standing on a base with carved apron and curved feet.
Provenance: The property of an old family from The Hague. 222 x 151 x 51 cm, Some damages to the inlay.
