Comment: The invention of the Duoplan calibre in 1925 allowed the development of exceptional jewellery watches such as our example above. With the exhibition at the Palais Galliera, Les arts et la bijouterie, Louis Cartier quickly took up the new trend to manufacture jewelled baguette watches such as these. Among the famous examples of baguette watches from this period is the one sold to Prince Tikkar of Kapurthala in 1932.
