An antique or earlier Roman ceramic oil lamp in 1st-2nd century AD style with angled nozzle and volute scroll to each side, lug handle to the rear; the discus with an image of a gladiator (hoplomachus?) brandishing a gladius and holding a round shield, wearing a wide brimmed crested helmet and loincloth with trouser-like wrappings. 70.5 grams, 11.5cm (4 1/2").
