呈筒形通体暗红色漆，戗金加红，绿，黑彩，外壁以万字锦地上三面开光，作花鸟纹饰，口沿一圈海水纹外壁回字纹，里面及底部均抹黑漆，底部自然老化开片，部分戗金自然脱金，万历年代的戗金彩漆笔筒存世量极少，清宫旧藏有多件，均与本品相似，参考《故宫经典文房清供》20号及附图。又一件参考物品《中国漆器》P242 明万历戗金彩漆双龙戏珠纹笔筒。 美国收藏家旧藏
