Attributed to Blaise Bontemps (French, 1814-1893) mixed materials. The clock features 5 moving and singing birds, a flowering tree, and a spinning glass waterfall. The clock face is marked 'A. Brewer Paris" and movement is marked 'Japy Freres Medailles D'or 1823.' The clock includes the original key for the automaton movement. Dimensions: 28 inches tall X 18 inches wide; 71.1 cm tall X 45.7 cm wide. All measurements are approximate. Condition: The singing bird mechanism is currently in working condition, but the clock is not currently running; glass dome is a replacement; one small bird is replaced with a wool example. Provenance: From a collection in Boynton Beach, Florida. Auction Reference: A similar French automaton clock with singing birds and figures, attributed to the clockmaker Blaise Bontems was sold at Christie's London 13 September 2018 as Lot 94 for 4,375 GBP.
