A pair of large, matching, Chinese, porcelain lamps converted from jars, these apple-shaped with spreading bases, straight necks, & domed overhanging lids topped by Okinawan styled Shisa/ guardian lion finials, the bodies featuring a mirrored scene of heavenly figures: scholars with a scroll, women on clouds (one on the back of an ox), and a high official upon a throne with attendants, the covers decorated with auspicious artifacts, this executed in famille rose hues upon a ground of copper-red, with ruyi bands encircling the base of the neck & base of the covers, the blue, pink, & yellow hues there repeated in a lapis band around the feet. These on circular, mid-tone brown, wooden bases with four tapering feet. H: 22 1/8" (56.2cm) W: 10 1/8" (25.1cm) Condition: Both in very good condition with few minor scratches in the enamel, nicks in the wooden bases, & holes in the porcelain (to accommodate the lamp masts).
