Paris" and with foundry mark on self-base. h. 13", w. 19-1/2", d. 9-3/4" Provenance: Frances Aronson Fine Art, Atlanta, Georgia. Literature: Johnston, William R. and Kelly, Simon, Untamed - the Art of Antoine-Louis Barye Baltimore: The Walters Art Museum, 2006 variant illus pp.94, 95 Notes: The artist sold the original model of this sculpture - along with several others - to the Susse Freres in 1829. This edition can be distinguished by the relatively small stature of the panther; later editions present the panther larger and with a more exaggerated musculature.
