Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Yongzheng Blue and White dragon motif porcelain drum vase. Porcelain potted in a barrel shape, ovoid body, rounded shoulder gently elevated short neck toward opening lip, raise with slight small flat base. All reserved in clean white underglaze base color which contrast against the cobalt fine blue color. The Exterior adorned with archaic dragon and the phoenix surround the drum surface. Since the dragon and the phoenix usually serve as auspicious symbols, any reported sightings of a dragon or phoenix were considered extremely auspicious, heralding a glorious period of peace and prosperity for the people and the country. This is reflected in the Chinese saying: "When the dragon soars and the phoenix dances, the people will enjoy happiness for years, bringing peace and tranquility to all under heaven. A characteristic heaped and piled effect, the underglaze grayish-blue concentrates in certain areas, bubbling through the surface of the glaze. Building schools, medical centers, training facilities, churches or just shelter for those in need he found to be the most worthy of his time. His projects were in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay and Peru, all countries that needed a man that openly gave his time and money selflessly.The items in this sale all have a special meaning to him, some he purchased others were donated for time and effort as gifts for reaching out to help others.
