Description

Fine, Chinese Yuan Dynasty Period, reversed blue dragon pear porcelain vase in a protective box. Finely potted in Chinese traditional YuHuChun shape vessel, the pear shaped bottle vase, a bottom-heavy body tapered gracefully to slender waisted neck flaring at the mouth rim, supported on the short spreading foot ring. All reserved hand painted ornamentations are rendered in deep blue under glazed base color which contrasts against the creme brown fine color. The main body adorned with the great snarling imperial dragon careening through cumulus clouds, flame, vapor. Dragon is the symbol of the Emperor, the Son of Heaven, eternity, Yang and Yin, male vigor and fecundity, the Li-shui wave pattern which is known to be the abode of dragons. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark grayish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim. The foot rim reveals the cut edges during the making process, and the receded central interior base left white under glaze. Elegance comes with tall zitan hardwood stand carved with scrolling ruyi and Auspicious motif. Presented upon a carved hardwood stand and fitted original hardwood box, with deep royal creme brown interior cushion, adorned with a colorful auspicious pattern on metallic thread ribbon. The Elaborately carved zitan hardwood frame perfectly accentuates this work of art. The porcelain conformed all required specimens to be high valued Chinese porcelain wares, with the finest material, the whiteness, the glaze, and the carving. Without overlap, the outlines of the design, well carved, clear, subtle, distinct, and the shape is uniformly proportioned.
