A turquoise glazed bowl with everted body, unglazed basal ring, band of Arabic script painted in black to the outerside; the inside with elaborate painted design with central image of a bearded man on horseback, a bird on each shoulder, small dog on the foreground; above a frieze of four galloping horsemen with floriate panels in between. 355 grams, 19cm (7 1/2"). Property of a Brussels gentleman; previously with Bonhams, London, 10 April 2008, lot 25; formerly in the private collection of Jacques Desenfans, who acquired it in 1973.
