Late 3rd-2nd millennium BC. A mixed group of ten bronze seals with various shapes and designs including seven accompanied by typed and signed notes by the late W.G. Lambert, Professor of Assyriology at the University of Birmingham, 1970-1993, which state: (V-779) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 20 x 20 x 18mm. This has a round, flat compartmented face, and slightly convex back, in the middle of which is a stalk handle ending in a pierced suspension loop. The design, achieved with raised lines, shows either a star with five rays or a kind of rosette with five petals. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2100-1800 B.C. There is some corrosion and incrustation, which could be removed. The condition is generally fair.'; (U-246) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 20 x 18 x 20 x 22.5mm. This bears the shape of the design, with flat compartmented face and convex back with stalk handle in the centre ending in a pierced loop. The design consists of a triangle in the middle and to each side is joined a section which turns to one side and ends in a point. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2100-1800 B.C. It is worn and one tip in missing, but the metal appears to be in good condition.'; (T-851) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 19 x 15 x 25mm. This bears the shape of the design, with flat compartmented face, flat back, and stalk handle ending in a round loop. The design consists of three compartments, one with a spike in it, not clearly depicting anything, but apparently abstract. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. One end is worn down, but otherwise it is in good condition. The incrustation could be removed.'; (T-448) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 14 x 13 x 19mm. This has a round, flat compartmented face, and back which rises sharply to a stalk handle with loop on top. The design on the face consists of two crescents based on opposite sides of the rim. This comes from west central Asia and dates to c. 2200-1800 B.C. It is a good example of its kind, and in very good condition save that the rim is damaged at one spot.'; (B-17) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 19 x 17 x 22mm. This is round, and the solid back rises in a stalk handle a break, and a second hole made beneath it. The design on the flat face was achieved with raised lines and a dot in the middle. The main item is a stylized standing horned quadruped, with three crescent shapes around it. This comes from the Bronze Age of west central Asia, probably to be dated c. 2000-1500 B.C. Save for the broken loop it is in very good condition.'; (B-10) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 13 x 13 x 25mm. The flat face is compartmented, and a tall stalk handle rises from the back to a pierced globe top. The design is made of a crescent-shaped line, with another line beginning at the edge and facing the middle of the crescent. This comes from ancient west central Asia, and probably dates to c. 2000-1500 B.C. It is in fair condition.'; (B-8) 'Stamp Seal of Bronze, 18 x 17.5 x 9mm. This is round, with a flat back, solid, with a big loop handle attached. The flat face shows a design composed of four v-shapes with their points close to the centre, and each V-shape filled with a triangle or other shape. This seal comes from west central Asia, and dates to c. 2300-2000 B.C. It is in good condition, and the incrustation on it could be removed.' 109 grams total, 18-25mm (36984"). The Signo collection, the property of a West London businessman, formed in the late 1980s-early 1990s; B-8, B-10, B-17, T-448, T-851, U-246, X-866, V-779, T-233, V-777, academically researched and catalogued by the late Professor Lambert in the early 1990s.
