A CANTON LACQUER TEA CADDY WITH ORIGINAL TEA CONTAINERS, QING China, 1644-1912. The four-sided box with a hinged cover and painted all over with old black, gold and red lacquer showing intricate floral patterns, opening to reveal a pair of original incised pewter lidded tea containers, the lock complete with the original key. (2) Condition: Good condition with wear and losses to the lacquer, remains of a collector number to the base, the key is bent out of shape. Provenance: From the collection of Georg Weifert (1850-1937). Thence by descent in the same family. Weifert was a Serbo-Austrian industrialist and the first governor of the Federal Bank of the Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Weight: 1,574 g. Dimensions: 13 x 20.2 x 13.8 cm.
