A WOOD NETSUKE OF A SHISHI ROLLED INTO A BALL Unsigned Japan, 19th century, Edo period (1615-1868) The netsuke is carved from wood and the ball, which resembles a tama (magical pearl). The expression is grim with double-inlaid eyes. Natural himotoshi, loose ball inside the mouth, and another opening on the underside, as to be mounted on a cane. HEIGHT 2.7 cm Condition: Good condition with few smaller cracks in the wood. Provenance: British private collection.
